BLUEBERRY RYE
Place the blueberries in a large jar or pitcher and pour in the whiskey. Cover and let the mixture infuse at room temperature for 1 week, agitating it once a day. Strain the whiskey through a fine-mesh sieve into a large jar or bottle. Discard the solids. Seal the jar and store it in a cool, dry place; it will keep indefinitely
Makes 3 cups, enough for 12 drinks.
PINE SYRUP
In a medium saucepan, cover the pine needles with 1 cup water. Bring to a boil, cook for 3 minutes and then remove the pan from the heat and allow to steep for 30 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine- mesh sieve into a heatproof jar, discarding the solids, and stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. Let the syrup cool completely, then seal and store it in the refrigerator.
