DINNER BY DESIGN: MONTCLAIR DESIGN WEEK
Montclair is well known for its variety of food venues, from Brazilian to Ethiopian to a great cheeseburger On Thursday, October 24th, as part of the second annual Montclair Design Week (October 18–27, 2019), the community will share a dining experience like no other.
For one night only, Montclair will come together for an experimental evening where a community of cooks, artisans, and foragers will create a multi-course dinner from, literally; the dishes on up— and everyone is welcome to participate.
In the run-up to the big day, participants can help forage and harvest food, design and make plates and serving platters, put together table displays from local plant life and materials, or contribute with a variety of other hands-on experiences.
Local chefs will invent dishes from the foraged food and local products, and the community will help cook plate, and serve. Everyone is encouraged to attend, even those who want only to eat, listen to live music, and enjoy what promises to be a unique collaborative design event.
“This event is more than gathering friends and neighbors around a shared meal," says Petia Morozov, founder of Montclair Design Week. “It's about discovering and making deep connections we have with place through all of our senses. We are rewriting what a community dinner can be, and we plan to blow minds and awaken curiosity.”
With an overall theme of ‘‘Unwritten,” this year's Design Week will offer a variety of thought-provoking experiences and inclusive events throughout the city. Visit the website for more information and registration.
