If you enjoy clam digging at the Shore or slurping down top necks at your favorite clam shack, it’s likely you’re also a chowder aficionado. If that's the case, you’ll want to make your way to Long Beach Island the weekend of October 5–6 for the 31st annual Chowderfest hosted by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce. The event kicks off with the Merchants Mart on Saturday and then continues Sunday with the ever-popular Chowder Cook-Off. Be on hand to sample chowders served up by nearly 20 restaurants and vote for your favorites in three categories: New England, Manhattan, Creative Seafood. Awards are also presented for best booths, including Best Interpretation of the Theme (won last year by Country Kettle Chowda of Beach Haven). Who will be this year's top chowderheads?
