Ingredients
- 6-8 apples of your choice, peeled and sliced (I prefer Honeycrisp and Granny Smith.)
- ½ stick of butter at room temperature, cut into slices
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ cup water (For adult recipe, add a splash of rum to the water.)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 stick cold butter, cubed
Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 425˚F.
2. In a baking dish, combine the sliced apples, the butter slices at room temperature and water (with or without rum). Sprinkle the cinnamon on top.
3. In a large bowl, combine the crumb ingredients. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly. Knead the mixture together with your hands until you get the crumbs you desire. (You can substitute using a pastry blender instead of your hands, but it may not work as well.)
4. Once the topping is crumbly, spread across the apple mixture.
5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the sides are bubbling.
6. Remove from the oven, let cool and serve by itself or with your favorite ice cream.
7. Cover and refrigerate the left overs. ENJOY!!!!
About this recipe
NOTE: Depending on your preference, as you are kneading the crumbs, use additional sugar if you want more crumbly crumbs and less sugar if you want softer crumbs.
