Newark Restaurant Week

In a season that has seen the city highlighting its place in the arts world and technology sector, the celebration of its culinary diversity and prowess, Newark Restaurant Week has finally arrived.

This year’s incarnation, the fourth annual, launches on Friday, October 25 and runs through Sunday, November 3, 2024. It is once again brought to you by Invest Newark, the city’s Economic Development Corporation. Through their efforts, over 65 food establishments throughout the city, representing all five wards, are signed on to provide diners with special offers, signature dishes and fixed price menus.

Much of the rich history of Newark can be seen through its people and the food communities that has grown up around successive waves of immigrants who have moved into the city over the centuries of its existence. Newark is known for feeding its residents and welcoming them and all visitors year round, with destinations representing the food culture and flavors of almost every group that has ever settled here – and Restaurant Week emphasizes that dynamic. The early buzz around this year’s Restaurant Week among those already in the know about the thriving food scene has been not if they will participate, but how to create a destination calendar for the week with so many great options, ranging from neighborhood classics and mainstays to new spots open just a handful of weeks.

“Newark Restaurant Week is a special time of the year because it takes something that locals and foodies know well – that Newark is full of culinary gems – and seeks to share it with the wider world. Just today on the first day of Restaurant Week, I visited two places I had never been, even after working and living in Newark for over 10 years. It was exciting. Those are the kinds of experiences we want residents and visitors to enjoy during Restaurant Week," shares Emily Manz, Chief Business Development Officer and Director of Marketing for Invest Newark.

The best way to get updated information on what is in the works throughout the entire city for Restaurant Week is to sign up for the free digital passport. This can be accessed from the special Newark Restaurant Week website. No app download is necessary. The passport lists all participating businesses, and can be used, via QR Code, to tally your Restaurant Week check-ins. Dine at 10 or more of the listed establishments and you will be eligible for prizes.

Participants dining throughout the week are also encouraged to use #NewarkRW in any social media posts to show further support for the small business owners and the city.

In addition to Invest Newark’s efforts, Newark Restaurant Week is sponsored by The Junction at Gateway Center and the New Jersey Devils, with Newark Happening, the official tourism information center of Newark, providing additional support.
