March 7 – 17, 2025: Edible Jersey Adventure: Food & Wine of Northern Spain

Barcelona > Rioja > San Sebastian

The people of Spain are passionate about their food and wine – with good reason. Our trip starts in the spectacular and delicious city of Barcelona. Here, we’ll sample cava, tapas, and churros as well as enjoy private cooking classes; we’ll wander the city markets this Catalan capital is known for. We’ll soak up Barcelona’s renowned architecture, too, with a guided walking tour and a stop at Gaudi’s masterpiece, the La Sagrada Familia basilica.

Then it’s on to Rioja by train for a 3-day stint of wine tastings and tapas bars, visiting vineyards, villages and caves, enjoying a 3-course dinner at a Michelin star restaurant and taking in modernist architecture set amid the rolling countryside. In Logrono, the capital of Spain’s La Rioja region and a city known for its gastronomy, we’ll take a deep dive into Spanish cuisine as an expert guide leads us along Calle del Laurel, known for its tapas bars and great food.

San Sebastian, in Spain’s Basque region, will be our home base for the next (and last) three nights of the tour. Here, we’ll have another cooking class, explore the city’s famous fish and vegetable markets, pop into the countryside to a sheep farm where we’ll learn about Idiabazal cheese, taste Txakoli on the vineyard where it’s made and enjoy a seaside seafood lunch in Getaria. Following a special farewell dinner, flights home will depart from Bilbao.

October 24th – November 1, 2025: An Edible Jersey Adventure through Campania and Puglia

Sorrento > Itria Valley Countryside (via Benevento and Ostuni) > Salento & Ostuni > Alberobello > Naples

Welcome to Southern Italy! Upon arrival in Naples, we’ll head to the spectacular Sorrento Peninsula where we’ll spend two nights in Sorrento. With the beautiful Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius as a backdrop, we’ll explore delicious eateries and shops, meeting the chefs, artisans, and owners who craft this town’s world-famous specialties, including arancini, mozzarella, cold cuts, sweets and limoncello. We’ll stroll spectacular gardens of a countryside agriturismo; we’ll indulge in a four-course dinner complete with a wine tasting led by an experienced sommelier.

From Sorrento, we travel to the Itria Valley Countryside. Here, an olive farm agritourism will serve as our home base as we immerse ourselves into the food culture of Southern Italy. A cooking class featuring traditional Campanian recipes of this Benevento region; lunch at a Michelin-starred restaurant; a visit to the Salento region, home to some of Italy’s finest quality wines, where we’ll taste Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Salice Salentino wines. In Ostuni, known as The White City, we’ll walk the winding, narrow streets lined with whitewashed buildings and an impressive array of architectural styles.

Alberobello, famous for its UNESCO-recognized trulli, is our next stop. Here, we’ll visit iconic homes with the symbols painted onto the roofs to bring good luck; we’ll celebrate Pugliese cuisine in a cooking class focusing on fresh pasta and focaccia bread. In Bari, we’ll dive into the history and culinary delights of this medieval town under the direction of a local guide. A high-end olive oil tasting hosted by our agriturismo hosts will discuss the history of olive oil and their family farm’s role in it. Then, it’s on to Naples for one more day of exploration and dining before heading home.
