Earth Day Events
On April 22, 1970, an estimated 20 million Americans—10% of the US population at the time—turned out on college campuses and in communities nationwide to protest environmental ignorance and demand a new way forward for our planet. In an era of oil spills, smog, and waterways so polluted that many literally caught fire, the combined voices of that first Earth Day made a positive difference and sparked a world-wide movement. Many events are planned across New Jersey to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, including our short selection here. Whether you attend a festival, organize a clean-up or spend an hour discussing environmental issues with the kids, remember to stand up for Mother Earth this April, and all year long.
