Many folks across the state embrace locally and sustainably grown produce. It’s time to widen the net to include flowers, grown the same way.

Colleen Harrington and Mike Rassweiler of North Slope Farm in Lambertville grow produce as well as lush organic flowers, ideal for dressing up fall and Thanksgiving Day tables.

“The best way to invest in your community is to support your local economy,” says Mike. “And the flowers come from an environment that is treated with respect and care.”

Locally grown flowers, kept out of direct sunlight, are also an excellent value. “Fresh-cut, local, organic flowers [often] have a noticeably longer vase life,” says Colleen. “We have customers who report that the bouquet they bought last week (or two weeks ago!) still looks beautiful. They’re so excited by the quality.”

North Slope Farm sells their blooms at West Windsor Farmers Market, Princeton Junction train station, every Saturday until Thanksgiving, and at Whole Earth Center in Princeton. Price for bouquets at WWFM start at $15.
