Jersey Shore Boardwalk Bites
These tasty classics got their start on Jersey Shore boardwalks— and can still be enjoyed there today. Traveling north to south, check these novelty New Jersey treats off your “must-try” list this summer.
✅ KOHR’S “THE ORIGINAL” ICE CREAM
There are plenty of Kohr’s variations throughout the Jersey Shore, but Kohr’s “The Original” considers the Seaside Heights Boardwalk home. This frozen custard brand changed the ice cream game more than 100 years ago with its innovative recipe, and today no boardwalk trip is complete without a stop for your favorite flavor on a waffle cone—with plenty of sprinkles (or jimmies, depending on where you’re from). 301 Boardwalk | 800 Boardwalk | 1107 Boardwalk, Seaside Heights | kohrstheoriginal.com
✅ ASBURY PARK ROASTERY
Asbury Park Roastery joined this shore community back in 2007, and it has since expanded to three locations, with two on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. While it might not have the long history of other boardwalk spots, it doesn’t need it; this coffee shop is bustling with everyone from tourists to locals who stop to take in the tasty drinks, treats, and ocean view. Coffee and tea are sold by the bag as well. 803 Second Ave. | 1300 Ocean Ave. | 800 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park | aproastery.com
✅ JENKINSON’S SWEET SHOP
Ice cream, fudge, and chocolate goodies are all under one roof at Jenkinson’s Sweet Shop, a flagship store that’s a century-old staple on the eponymous boardwalk. Year round, visitors can shop all sorts of sweet treats, including candy apples and loaded pretzels. 300 Ocean Ave., Point Pleasant Beach | jenkinsons.com/ sweet-shop
✅ SALT WATER TAFFY
Nothing says New Jersey boardwalk quite like salt water taffy. This chewy, gooey candy was invented more than 150 years ago in Atlantic City, though it’s available nowadays all over the shore—and its name has become synonymous with a NJ summer. You can find it in plenty of stores throughout the Atlantic City Boardwalk—if there’s one place to try it, it’s here. Various locations, Atlantic City
✅ JOHNSON’S POPCORN
An Ocean City Boardwalk visit isn’t complete without the scent of Johnson’s Popcorn wafting through the salt air. A staple since 1940, this caramel popcorn is sold in a keepsake plastic bucket with the brand’s logo front and center, making it the perfect snack to give as a gift—or to munch on while perusing plenty of Ocean City’s boardwalk boutiques. 1368 Boardwalk | 828 Boardwalk | 660 Boardwalk, Ocean City | johnsonspopcorn.com

Located within Morey’s Piers on the Wildwood Boardwalk, Curley’s Fries has made a name for itself through its signature to-go snack.
