“Lakeside Table” by Seward Johnson ©1999, The Seward Johnson Atelier, Inc.

I took the last
dusty piece of china
out of the barrel.
It was your gravy boat,
with a hard, brown
drop of gravy still
on the porcelain lip.
I grieved for you then
as I never had before.
— Jane Kenyon

Poem and art at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ, founded by artist and philanthropist Seward Johnson (April 16, 1930 – March 10, 2020). Shared by Edible Jersey in memory of the lives lost over the past year.
