On Sunday, October 6, locations throughout Bergen, Essex, Passaic and Morris counties will be accepting donations of non-perishable foods to help feed the hungry. The Action Against Hunger Food Drive, administered by the Foundation of Northern NJ Inc (formerly North Jersey Media Group Foundation), aims to address the pervasive problem of food insecurity which affects one in 10 New Jersey residents. Since launching in 1991, the community service initiative has become the largest one-day food drive in the metropolitan area.

Requested food donations include non-perishable items, such as canned vegetables, meats, fish and fruits; soups; pasta; rice and baby formula. Donations can be dropped off on Sunday at participating Kings, Foodtown, ShopRite, Stop & Shop and other locations; collected donations will be distributed via local food banks and pantries. Visit the website for a full list of acceptable items and drop off sites. Tax-deductible cash donations are also welcome.
