Heights Holiday Market
On Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Riverview Farmers Market will be bringing the Heights Holiday Market, a brand new holiday market pop up, to Jersey City Heights.
“Both downtown Jersey City and Hoboken have annual holiday markets, but there was no one serving the Heights community and we felt like we were the organization that could do that,” said Megan Wintersteen, Vice President of the board who organizes the Riverview Farmers Market.
The one-day rain or shine event will include more than 50 local vendors and will be more artisan- and maker-focused than the traditional farmers market they run during the Summer season.
In addition to holiday shopping, visitors can enjoy warm food and drink options from several local businesses like Busy Bee Organics, Fox & Crow, and The Cliff. Along with vending their signature S’mores Hot Chocolate, Busy Bee Organics will also be sponsoring a meet and greet with Santa from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the event.
“I think it’s really important to be part of events like this to bring holiday spirit to our neighborhood and showcase all the businesses the Heights has to offer,” said Michelle Berckes, Owner of Busy Bee Organics.
The Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs and Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh are also contributing to the holiday market by sponsoring a human-sized inflatable snow globe photo booth and the Riverview Neighborhood Association will be sponsoring live music.
“Our goal is to give the community a way to celebrate the holiday season together,” said Wintersteen. “And if there’s enough enthusiasm for it, we would love to make this an ongoing part of our yearly programming.”
About Riverview Farmers Market
The Riverview Farmers Market is held every Sunday from May through November in Riverview-Fisk Park, located at Palisade Avenue between Bowers and Griffith Streets. It is organized by the local non-profit organization Farms in the Heights and has been serving the Jersey City Heights community for more than 12 years through the market, as well as ongoing arts and culture programming like the Peach Pie Contest, Fall Harvest Festival, and Day of the Dead Celebration.
