If you notice lines queued up outside Profeta Farms Organic Market this summer, there is likely some scooping going on. The market’s fresh-churned ice cream has become so popular that management recently set up an outdoor “Ice Cream Social” food truck to alleviate some of the demand at the store’s inside ice cream counter.
According to head Ice Cream Spinner Donna Holmes, eight to 12 flavors are available each day. The rotating list of options includes mainstays and seasonally inspired flavors, such as Strawberry Shortcake, Mint Stracciatella, Buttermilk Lemon with Blueberry Swirl, Peanut Butter Brownie, Salted Caramel, Cherry Sorbet and a vegan Coconut with Raspberry. All of the ice cream is made with organic ingredients, including eggs, herbs and some of the fruit sourced directly from Profeta’s own fields. House-made waffle cones are gluten-free. Have a hard time sticking to just one or two scoops in a cone? The staff will be happy to hand-pack pints or quarts for you to carry home.
