Ingredients

  • 2 ounces gin
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 2 heaping tablespoons Cranberry Jam (recipe follows)
  • 2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
Cranberry Jam
  • 10 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1¼ cups sugar
  • ½ cup orange juice

Preparation

PINE BARRENS COCKTAIL

Makes 1 drink

Add all ingredients to a shaker tin. Shake and strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a pine sprig.

CRANBERRY JAM

Makes 1 quart, enough for 24 cocktails

Stir cranberries, orange juice and sugar together for 10-12 minutes over medium high heat until cranberries begin to pop. Transfer to a blender and purée until smooth. Put purée back on the stove and cook over medium-low heat for another 15-20 minutes. To store, refrigerate in a sealed container. Cranberry Jam will keep for six months.
