Farm & Fork Society Launched Fresh Produce & Turkey Drive

Volunteer Group Raising Money to Feed Essex County, NJ’s Hungry for the Holidays

November 2, 2017 (Millburn, NJ) Farm & Fork Society, New Jersey’s largest and most diverse CSA (Community Supported Agriculture Group), announced its campaign to raise money for the purchase of both turkeys and storage produce (potatoes, squashes, and onions) that can last throughout the holiday season for Isaiah House, Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges and Our Lady of Sorrows Food Pantry

Farm & Fork Society feels strongly about helping out the local community and providing food to those who are less fortunate. During the regular delivery season, June through November, the CSA supports the Generation Zero: Working to Reduce Hunger in New Jersey campaign which pays for fresh produce from local farmers directly to Essex County food banks and shelters. The 2017 season is ending November 15 and therefore the weekly food donation from this campaign to the non-for-profit partners will end leaving a food deficit for the local food banks.

Farm & Fork Society’s food drives are two-pronged: (1) Purchase fresh produce for those in need; Essex County has the highest rate of food scarcity in the state with over 114,000 people. (2) Help out our local farmer partners. Farm & Forks Society wants their farmers to finish out the season with enough money in the bank to pay the bills in the winter months.

No donation is too small.

$10 = 6 lbs of produce

$25 = 15 pounds of produce

$50 = 22-24 pound turkey

$100 = 60 pounds of produce

Note that Farm & Fork Society is not a registered non-profit therefore a donation is not tax deductible.  All money raised will go to purchase turkeys and fresh produce at wholesale prices from Circle Brook Farm, Breezy Hill Orchard, and Goffle Farm and donated directly to Isaiah House, Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges and Our Lady of Sorrows Food Pantry.

About Farm & Fork Society

Since 2008, Farm & Fork Society, a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture group), has been dedicated to building an integrated community comprised of their farmer partners and members who pre-purchase shares of organic/sustainable crops on a seasonal basis. Serving residents of Millburn-Short Hills, Maplewood-South Orange, Summit, Livingston, West Orange and other surrounding towns, Farm & Fork Society offers vegetables, fruit, poultry, farm fresh eggs, pasta, cider, mushrooms and bread shares. The seasonal produce is literally farm-to-table, coming directly from the farmer and is picked up weekly from June through November in downtown Millburn. Building a system that connects small local farms and businesses directly to the community, the group is dedicated to the health of its members and supporting best environmental and farming practices. Farm & Fork Society understands the importance of fostering deep, meaningful relationships between their farmers and the communities they feed.  Members are encouraged to meet the farmers, visit the farms and see for themselves where their food comes from.
