Just as the harvest season winds down this fall, the inaugural After the Harvest Wine & Food event presented by Provident Bank, will be launched at the Culinary Arts Institute at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City on Saturday, October 28 from 1-6 p.m. when member wineries of the Garden State Wine Growers Association and the Culinary Arts Institute and Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs/Tourism Development team up for this new fall event.

After the Harvest Wine & Food will feature wine sampling from at least six New Jersey wineries; tastings, culinary pairings, wine tutorials and live music.  The event is the first element of a new partnership between the Culinary Arts Institute of Hudson County Community College and the Garden State Wine Growers Association. Each ticket is $25 and entitles you to a wristband and a FREE wine glass, which you will pick up on the day of the event (proper ID required).  There is also a non-drinker ticket priced at $10 that can be purchased. All attendees must be at least 21 years old and must be present in order to pick up their wristband.  There will be a maximum of 500 tickets sold for this event. Attendees will be admitted at 12.30 pm and wine tasting will begin at 1 pm.

Garden State Wine Growers Association member wineries will sample in the Scott Ring conference room on the second floor of the Culinary Arts Center from 1-6 pm and attendees will be able to buy wine by the bottle and case and also enjoy cheese and charcuterie samples and other finger foods.

Educational wine tutorials will be held from 1-4 pm in the meeting rooms adjacent to the Scott Ring conference room.  Hourly talks will feature topics such as the Health Benefits of Drinking Wine, History of New Jersey Wine and the 5 S’s of Wine Tasting. On the third floor in the Culinary Arts Center kitchens, guests will be able to sample dishes paired with a wine from each of the participating wineries. There will also be an ice sculpture demonstration. Other elements of the event will include musical entertainment, vendors and other refreshments.
